The Firehouse Group creates Foodiction feast
June 2011

The Firehouse Group has been whipping up a design storm and has developed a website that will whet anyone’s appetite.

In May 2011, cooking school Foodiction’s interactive virtual home was unveiled after months of hard work from The Firehouse Group’s design team. The new website welcomes visitors into its kitchen in a unique way that is branded with the Foodiction smile.

“The home page has been created using 3D animations like pots, pans and an interactive kitchen gallery that almost matches the kitchen at Foodiction’s offices. The background colours of the website actually match the floor carpets at Foodiction,” says Sandy Greaves Campbell, CEO for the Firehouse Group.

The website is a virtual playground of recipes, newsletters, galleries and social networking. With one hover of their mouse, guests can rattle the pans on the wall to find about Foodiction’s partners, pour themselves a class of wine and enjoy the flavours of the wine club, or chop tomatoes and learn about the classes on offer.

“On the far right sitting on the fridge, are vouchers, the gallery and a calendar schedule which allows visitors to view pictures and book cooking classes and events. There’s a green pot on the stove cooking up the latest Foodiction news and next to it sits a recipe book that allows users to search for recipes and cook up a feast,” adds Greaves Campbell.

As the perfect place to sharpen those cooking skills, Foodiction has a selection of chefs that can help create mouth watering dishes through a number of cooking classes. It hosts food-related events for birthdays, team-building or general get-togethers.

These private and corporate events take place at a Bryanston-based custom built facility where chefs can accommodate up to 20 people. The main kitchen is equipped with plasma screens, cameras and recording facilities to record what's cooking on the demonstration counter. The screens are also linked to a PC to facilitate presentations.

Once guests get a taste of the website, they will find that Foodiction can become addictive. “We are proud of the fruits of our labour and Foodiction will definitely make its guests feel that their eyes can be bigger than their stomachs. Variety is the spice of life and Foodiction’s website certainly offers just   that thanks to its wide selection of food and drink techniques,” concludes Greaves Campbell.
